Blue Bird raises family in Greenwich Twp.

Here are some pictures of a Eastern Blue Bird raising a new family in Greenwich Twp. inside Ryan’s Birdhouse that he put up in his backyard:

Blue Bird eggs

Blue Birds usually lay eggs in the spring from late Feb to early April, although these were spotted in early July.

Young Blue Birds

With usually a 12-14 day incubation period, we caught a glimpse of these young Blue Bird offsprings a week after spotting the eggs.  Young Blue Birds are completely dependent on their parents, even for some time after they leave the nest and move to the shrubs.

The Humble Abode!

The Humble Abode!

Blue Birds are known to be cavity nesting birds, and will readily move into an Artificial Box such as Ryan’s Birdhouse above!

We will hope to capture some beautiful images of the adult Blue Birds soon and update this post.
